Officers began the pursuit of a vehicle they believed to have been stolen on the A1 at Eaton Socon at about 4pm, with the chase leading them up to Yaxley before two police cars collided with two other cars. Three police officers were injured in the incident, as well as another motorist. A spokesman for the constabulary said: There was a collision involving two police cars and two other cars on the A1M northbound about a kilometre south of Haddon at about 4.30pm. It happened during a police pursuit of one of the vehicles involved, which had started about 15 to 20 minutes earlier on the A1 at Eaton Socon. The car being pursued was suspected stolen and had failed to stop. Three officers were injured, two women and one man and all were taken to Peterborough City Hospital. One of the women was seriously injured but it was not life threatening. A 22 year-old man was arrested at the scene but was then taken to City Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries and remains there today. No one else was injured. The road was closed following the collision but the southbound carriageway was reopened by 8.26pm and the whole road was reopened about 12.20am. The IPCC and our own Professional Standards Department were notified but at this time the investigation stays with the roads policing unit. Anyone who witnessed the collision should call 101.
