Hinchingbrooke Hospital will be reinspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) later this month.
The chairman of the hospital’s board, Alan Burns, told board members in March that he was hopeful of a positive outcome. It was announced in January this year that the hospital would remain in Special Measures to allow the CQC to monitor progress in areas where it had previously flagged up concerns. The CQC told the Trust there were clear indications that staff had responded well to criticism, which labelled the hospital as Inadequate in September 2014. The rating was upgraded to Requires Improvement last April.
In a report to the board on March 31, Mr Burns said: “Although there remains some difficulties with A & E, we hope we have answered all their [CQC] questions and concerns.”
The board meeting heard from Mr Burns that a partner for the hospital’s new health campus would be announced in the next few weeks. He also told the board that the hospital’s MRI scanner had broken several times in recent months and the cost of replacing the vital piece of machinery, which was now 13 year’s old, was being looked into.
