A Huntingdon-based nursery has been graded as “outstanding” after an Ofsted inspection.

Ofsted visited the Mother Goose Corner Nursery and Pre-School in St Peter's Road and, after a full day examining all aspects of the nursery's care and curriculum, the team were awarded outstanding across all grading criteria.

Fewer than 10 per cent of all schools and nurseries in the UK receive the top grading from Ofsted, and nursery manager and owner Valerie Taylor attributes the continued success down to the dedication and hard work of the team members. Operations and HR manager Beverley Taylor-Carson plays an integral role in the training and development of the team, which resulted in the nursery winning a Hunts Post Business Award for 'going over and above industry standards'.

Mrs Taylor said: “I am very proud to be at the helm of such an amazing team. It's wonderful to know that we make such a phenomenally positive impact upon the children and families of the greater Huntingdonshire area. The only recommendation made on the nursery's official Ofsted report was to 'share its exemplary practice with other settings', and plans to do this through new and innovative means are already taking place.”

Mother Goose Corner is family-run and headed by mother and daughter Valerie Taylor and Beverley Taylor-Carson. Within the team of 23 staff, the nursery boasts two graduates, two nursery chefs and its own health and safety manager.

The facility offers pre-school education to 154 children, who enjoy activities including swimming, French sessions, Polish sessions, trips to Leo's Fun Zone, pet visits, library visits, cookery sessions and lots of outdoor play including gardening.
