An inquest has been opened into the death of a man who was hit by a car as he tried to cross the road.
David MacConnachie, formerly Pratt, climbed out of a car that had pulled over on Sawtry Way, the B1090, near Wyton, on June 7.
Assistant coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, David Morris, told the hearing at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, that Mr MacConnachie, 42, was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by an Audi A3.
Emergency services were called to the stretch of road, at about 6.15pm, and he was treated for a severe head injury.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, however, Mr MacConnachie, of Blenheim Court, in Wyton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem carried out at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, concluded that he had died of a head injury due to a road traffic collision.
A full inquest into Mr MacConnachie’s death will take place on February 8, next year.
