BRAMPTON resident Nick Carr and a team of friends will trek 4,500km across India in a tiny auto-rickshaw for charity.
The group admits the 150cc engine vehicle is “possibly the worst choice of vehicle for covering the entire sub-continent in two weeks” and “the most unsuitable vehicle imaginable”.
However the participants say there is a “certain charm” about next year’s Rickshaw Run, which they are doing in aid of the International Rescue Committee and Riding for the Disabled.
4 In A Shaw will take to the roads of Kochin, in the south of the country, in Spring 2011 and attempt to negotiate hazardous roads to Shillong in the north east during the fortnight-long race.
“We are not just doing this for our enjoyment but for two very worthwhile causes,” Mr Carr said.
“Any donations towards these charities’ operating costs would mean a great deal, both to them and the team.”
