Members of Somersham Bowls Club are enjoying new, “top-quality” facilities thanks to a grant from Mick George.

The Huntingdon haulier handed over a grant of more than £37,000 to the club, with the money used to carry out a range of upgrades and improvements.

The club has seen a major overhaul of a ditch, bank, access and playing surface areas of its facility.

The ‘green’ which was considered dated and in urgent need of repair, due to the rotting wood and deteriorating gullies, has been replaced with a modern, pre-formed concrete alternative.

Barry Eley, of Somersham Town Bowls Club said: “The funding has allowed us to provide a top-quality facility for the foreseeable future with sufficient capacity and resilience to cater for the increasing demand that we are experiencing.”
