FOUR men have been detained following a raid on a Ramsey restaurant.

Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers visited the Indiaana Restaurant in High Street on Wednesday (3 July) at 5pm where they found four men, believed to be members of staff, who were immigration offenders from Bangladesh.

Three of the men, aged 67, 37 and 32, had overstayed their visas, while the fourth, aged 36, was working illegally.

All four men were taken into immigration detention pending their removal from the UK and the restaurant now faces a potential £40,000 fine unless it can demonstrate that appropriate checks were carried out.

Jason Davis, from Home Office Immigration Enforcement, said: “Operations like this are carried out across the UK every day as we continue our work to track down and remove from the country those who seek to abuse our immigration laws.

“The public can be a huge help and I urge people with information about suspected immigration offenders to get in touch.”
