A PUB landlord and his wife were the victims of a violent gang attack in Earith on Saturday.

Cliff and Wendy Jones were about to close up for the night when between eight to 10 men stormed into The Crown Riverside pub in High Street.

It was reported that they kicked and punched Mr Jones and threw a glass ashtray at his wife. Mr Jones was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon while Mrs Jones was treated at the scene. Both are said to be now recovering at home.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to the pub at 10.45pm. Between eight to ten men had attacked a woman. Those men had disappeared by the time we got there.”

Two men, aged 17 and 18, were arrested and are on bail pending further enquiries. They are due to report back to Huntingdon police station on Monday December 20.
