YOUNGSTERS at Spaldwick Community Primary School set about creating their very own Olympic legacy last week by launching their Software Olympics.

Using finely-honed ICT skills, the Year 6 pupils used popular gaming consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, DS and PCs to play Olympic-themed games such as London 2012: The Official Video Game.

To ensure everything went as smoothly as possible letters were written to sponsors to secure funding for software, refreshments and special t-shirts.

Posters were produced to publicise the event and inform other pupils around the school.

The event, which took place on Thursday (October 25), included an opening ceremony that involved presentations, speeches and a parade by participating athletes.

A spokesman said: "The pupils would like to thank our sponsors for their support, including F2X, Mr Harbour, Mrs Thorpe of Rushden Workwear, the George at Spaldwick and Mr and Mrs Haylett from out local village shop."
