READERS donated winter coats to Age UK, following an appeal in The Hunts Post.

Reporter Catherine Bell, centre, handed the coats to store manager Helen Preece and assistant manager Cheryl Gentry at the Age UK shop in Free Church Passage, St Ives, on Friday.

The appeal was in conjunction with Age UK’s Donate a Coat initiative. Unwanted winter coats donated to Age UK shops are sold on with all the profits going to the charity’s winter warmth projects.

Age UK, a nationwide charity formed by the merger of Help the Aged and Age Concern, helps people get benefits and grants to help with heating costs. Their Winter Grants Programme helps local partners deliver groceries to those trapped by bad weather and volunteers make friends with those who would otherwise have little human contact.

INFORMATION:You can donate a coat or other quality items to any Age UK shop. You can also donate a ‘virtual’ coat to help Spread the Warmth this winter by visiting Age UK’s Facebook page.
