COUNCILLORS will be asked on Monday to approve a new route for the Grafham Water cycleway through Perry, in spite of objections from some residents.
The plan is to re-route it away from the main road through the village, using land between the Mander Park car park and Chichester Way.
Five letters of objection complained about noise from families, litter, road safety conflicts, spoiled views, potential vandalism and disturbance to protected birds. Huntingdonshire District Council also received one letter of support, citing improved safety for cyclists.
Planners have dismissed the objections, saying: “Bearing in mind the distance from dwellings and the large number of visitors that Grafham Water already attracts, it is not considered that the proposal will result in any appreciable loss of amenity to residents.”
It will be for HDC’s development management panel to decide on the council’s own application when it meets on Monday.
