YOUNG footballers from Huntingdonshire will share the spotlight with some of the world’s top footballers – and the England national team – when they take to the pitch at Wembley next week.

The six youngsters will represent Hunts FA as flag bearers when the Three Lions face world and European champions Spain on Saturday evening (November 12).

Hunts FA was chosen by the Football Association to supply young footballers from the event, and offered the chance to a pair of players from three of the district five Charter Standard Community Clubs.

The lucky youngsters are Aaron Aina and William Kerslake from St Ives Rangers under-12s team, and Dennie Williams and Lucy Dowd from Alconbury Colts under-11s. Dami Agboola and Dylan Malkern of Peterborough side Hampton FC’s under-10 side will also feature.

Alan Poulain, development manager at Hunts FA, said: “We were asked to supply six children aged nine to 12, reflecting the diversity of the area. We selected three of our Charter Standard clubs, and they held ballots to choose their representatives.

“It’s a fantastic honour for the six children.”

The six will arrive at Wembley three hours before kick-off to receive their official tracksuits and rehearse their role, and will hold Respect campaign flags as the teams run on to the pitch.

The game kicks off at 5.15pm on Saturday and will be broadcast live on ITV1.
