A woman who stabbed another woman in a jealous rage has been jailed for a year.
Kamila Gierchatowska, 23, asked to meet the 19-year-old victim in Field Road, Ramsey, on October 17 last year because she was unhappy about her close relationship with her ex-boyfriend.
The pair met near the Wing Hing fish and chip shop and started talking before a fight broke out.
Gierchatowska had brought a knife with her and stabbed the victim in the leg.
She then tried to run but two men had accompanied the victim and one detained her and rang police.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but was not seriously hurt.
Gierchatowska, of Hawthorn Road, Ramsey, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place on October 28 at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court.
On Wednesday (February 11) at Peterborough Crown Court, she was jailed for 12 months for the assault and nine months for the offensive weapon charge, the sentences to run concurrently.
Detective constable Tom Nuttall said: “Gierchatowska was not happy the victim had had a relationship with her ex-boyfriend and this had spilled over a couple of days before.
“She wanted to get her own back and took the knife with her to the meeting.
“Thankfully, the victim was not seriously hurt but the attack could easily have had far more serious consequences.”
