More than 80 students from five schools took part in the sixth Technology Tournament, run by the Rotary Club of Huntingdon and sponsored by Techmiracle Technologies, last Wednesday (February 4). The competition saw students build a battery-driven machine that could be suspended from a cable to deliver a package across a river. Each team was given the morning to develop their machine before demonstrating it in the afternoon. Points were award for the teams approach to designing and building the machine and for its success in delivering the package. Kimboltons Katie Lawrence, Lewis Meakin, Harrison Young and Jessica Simpson won the foundation task, Melissa Blem-Filby, Sam Shook, Fiona Marshall and Joseph Vernon of St Ivo, came first in the intermediate task and Sawtry Colleges team of Josh Aylett, Lois Webb, Giulia Giaffreda and Jack Gadsby were champions in the advanced category. Roy White, organiser, said: The day was a great success with the teams obviously enjoying themselves and deriving valuable experience in a competitive environment.
