Staff at Hinchingbrooke School’s sixth form have been voted the best school teaching team in the East of England by a panel of expert judges.

The V1 form team at the school, which includes teachers and support staff, were announced as Outstanding School Team of the Year in the regional heats of the Pearson Teaching Awards last Friday.

Teaching staff are put forward by students, before a panel of judges made up of other teachers - many of whom are past winners - choose the regional finalists for each category.

John Norris, head of sixth form at Hinchingbrooke, said: "I was delighted to see so many of our current and former students and parents who were willing to meet the panel of judges and talk about their experiences of working with members of the team.

"Although the award was presented to the tutor team, I would very much like to emphasise that we regard our students as key members of the wider team and that without their commitment, support and loyalty we could not have won the award."

The team is through to the national finals and will compete against six other schools in the same category. The winner will be announced live on BBC2 in October.
