Huntingdonshire Regional College hosts an Open Event on Wednesday 24th June, 5:30pm and 8:00pm, giving visitors an opportunity to discover all about the career-focused full-time Study Programmes and part-time courses available, and the Apprenticeships it offers in partnership with local employers.
The Open Event provides a platform to talk with learners, tutors and careers advisors about the wide range of Study Programmes on offer that develop the skills, knowledge and experience to succeed in the world of work.
A range of presentations including Student Enrichment, Finance and Apprenticeships will give further details about Higher Education and the learner experience at the College.
And it’s not all talk at Hunts Regional College Open Events. Visitors are encouraged to join in free taster activities, run by current leaners across a number of curriculum areas, giving a real insight into the Study Programmes available. These sessions bring to life the Study Programmes and allow visitors to engage with current learners and find out more about life at HRC.
The Open Event is an invitation to explore the facilities at HRC both inside and outside the learning environments by taking a tour of the campus.
These include a Vitality Hair & Beauty Salon, Learning Resource Centre, Refectory and Starbucks Café, Gym, Teddy Bear Nursery and a recently renovated Creative Industries Centre which includes a new photographic studio.
Huntingdonshire Regional College deliver full-time programmes in Business, Childcare, Computing, Construction, Creative Industries, Engineering, Hair, Beauty Therapy & Nail Services, Health & Social Care, Motor Vehicle, Sport & Exercise and Uniformed Public Services.
For anyone wanting more flexible provision to help them balance study with work and family commitments, HRC has a range of part-time professional courses on offer to aid professional development and upgrade skills. If you are aged 24 or over and starting a Level 3 course, or higher, on or after the 31st August 2015, you may be entitled to a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help cover the cost of tuition fees and you won’t have to pay anything back until your annual income is over £21k. The 24+ Advanced Learning Loan is easy to apply for, doesn’t take your household income into account and doesn’t involve a credit check.
All of the Study Programmes feature work experience opportunities and enterprise projects. The College has established links with local employers and works with them to ensure learners leave College with the right skills and experience.
Apprenticeships are an increasingly popular route as they combine paid jobs with paid training and Huntingdonshire Regional College offers several opportunities with local businesses. An average of 25 people per month secure jobs through the College as Apprentices.
Full-time students aged 16-18 years will also be able to find out about our free College bus service across Huntingdonshire, enabling learners to save up to £450 a year, plus half-price driving lessons offered with RED Driving School. The area covered by the free bus service includes Sawtry, Ramsey, St Neots and St Ives and will extend to Wisbech form September 2015.
