Children from Holywell C of E Primary School got a taste of being a tree surgeon on Wednesday.

They helped to dig up the trees to be donated to Godmanchester Community Nursery where volunteers will then send them on to be used for a tree planting project in Alconbury Weald.

The trees have been on the school site for the last three years and were originally planted by the Eco Club.

Originally, 50 were planted but five have been lost over time.

Claire Macdonald, head of school at Holywell, said: "The saplings arrived with us between 40-60cm high, but are now well over 1m and some are nearly up to 1.5m.

"Children in Foundation really enjoyed learning from Adrian and George from Huntingdonshire District Council."
