Staff at The Cock in Hemingford Grey have raised a glass after winning Cambridgeshire Dining Pub of the Year – an award the public house has earned a whopping eight times over the last 12 years.

Opened in 2001 beside the Great Ouse River, the venue took home its first win in 2004 before going on to collect National Pub of the Year in 2013.

As well as retaining its dining award, The Cock has also been listed as one of the top 10 pubs in the country this year, according to the Good Pub Guide.

Oliver Thain, one of the owners of The Cock, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to once again win this award. We’ve worked incredibly hard as a team to keep the business consistently on the front foot. We love the place and we’re delighted that our customers do too.”

In fact, head chef George Allan’s team has an average age of just 22, with many apprentice chefs able to train in his kitchen while studying at college.

Recognised for its food, The Cock delivers locally sourced produce for its British and modern European menu, with a fresh fish board, homemade sausages and seasonal feasts on offer throughout the year.

Part of the Cambscuisne family, The Cock was the first pub and restaurant opened by the chain, helping to set the bar for its sister eateries like The Cambridge Chop House, SmokeWorks, and The Tickell Arms.
