A prisoner at HMP Littlehey claimed to be an Al Qaeda terrorist about to bomb Heathrow Airport in a number of hoax calls.

Jordan Wass, 19, was serving a sentence for robbery in February when he called the Samaritans claiming to be Mohammed Assan and that a car bomb was on its way to the West London airport.

Wass, who called several times between February 24 and February 26, also demanded £1million to prevent the fictional bombing.

The calls were traced to the Perry prison and Wass was identified as the called. He admitted three counts of causing a bomb hoax and asked for eight other offences to be taken into consideration.

At Peterborough Crown Court on Friday, July 11, Wass’s sentence was extended by two years. He was originally sentenced to 16 months after admitting a number of robberies in Rutland.

Detective chief inspector Richard Wall said: “We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. Such threats are taken very seriously by the emergency services as they can cause a large amount of disruption.”
