Marcus Setchell, of Hemingford Abbots, is part of the delivery team on standby for when the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Windsor, goes into labour expected to be later this week. Mr Setchell, the Queens gynaecologist from 1990-2008, is on-call for the delivery, which is set to be at the Lindo Wing of St Marys Hospital, London. It is also believed the 69-year-old delayed his retirement when he was asked to deliver the latest royal addition. He previously delivered Sophie, Countess of Wessexs two children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn. He also performed Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwalls hysterectomy in 2007. The gynaecologist trained at Cambridge University and St Bartholomews Hospital, where he worked from 1975 to 2008. Mr Setchell, right, was also a founder of The Portland Hospital, a private hospital for women and children, which opened 30 years ago. He is reported to have joked he may come out of retirement to deliver the couples babies in the future ... but because of the royal connection has to keep mum about his latest job.
