HUNTINGDONSHIRE councillor Mac McGuire loses Cambridgeshire County Council leadership battle.
The Norman Cross representative was beaten by Councillor Martin Curtis in a meeting of the Conservatives, who have the most members, this afternoon.
North East Cambs MP Steve Barclay was quick to congratulate fellow Fenland representative Cllr Curtis on Twitter. He said: “Congratulations to Cllr Curtis on election as Cambridgeshire Conservative Group Leader. Great news for progressing NE Cambs issues.”
Cllr Curtis will be elected as council leader on May 21 at its annual meeting.
