The team, called Neville Wears Prada, have been chosen to represent England at the inaugural world cup, to be held in London in May 2018.

The qualifying event took place on June 25 in Shoreditch, London, where the team took on squads from across the country to be crowned England’s first ever international bubble football team.

In bubble football, participants wear an inflatable suit which restricts their movement and often sees players bounce off of one another.

Neville Wears Prada faced a nerve-wracking wait to be crowned winners after drawing their final 4-4, leading to extra time and concluding with penalties. The players dug deep to eventually win 3-1 after spot kicks.

Neville Nania, team manager, said: “It is unbelievable, it really just happened that we won. We are going to make sure that when we represent England we are going to give it our all.”

The squad was put together by ex-St Neots player Dan Chillingworth, and is captained by ex-Cambridge United midfielder David Bridges. Also part of the team are Huntingdonshire duo Rob Tucker and Emitai Tuwani.

They have teamed up with Ebeneza Fadenhan and Jordan Jackson who work for Ramsey-based company Xtreme Events, which organises bubble football for thousands of parties and stag dos each year.

“There are a lot of countries out there that play bubble football and all of them have leagues. We will have to do research on all these other countries but it is something that is going to be fun,” Neville added.

There are 16 countries that have signed up to be a part of the inaugural world cup, and so far it is predicted that the team’s biggest competition will be the USA. The bubble football association boasts 39 leagues throughout America.

The Bubble Football World Cup tournament, organised by The Stag Company, is set to take place throughout the weekend of 19-20 May 2018, where the final will be hosted at Wembley.
