The Patient Participation Group (PPG) at the Acorn Surgery, in the Oak Tree Centre, Oxmoor, presented staff with a cheque to buy a spirometer, which measures the breathing flow of chronic asthma sufferers. Mick Taylor, PPG chair, handed the cheque over to Dr Brendan Boyle and the managing partner Trisha Hawitt Palmer. He said: The new equipment means that patients can get themselves tested at the surgery instead of going to hospital which will save a lot of time and money for them. We somehow managed to cobble together the £1,000 with the main two fundraisers, Joyce and Les Webster, who put in a lot of effort, coming to the centre at least twice a week. The money was raised by the group through raffles, tombolas, book sales and car boot sales over the last year.
