Youngsters became pop stars for a week at Huntingdon Dance Centre.

The group, mostly aged in their early 20s, met at the Orchard Lane centre where they practised covers of famous songs, recorded a CD and performed to their friends and family as part of a project run by Bedazzle Performing Arts.

The 22 pupils, who have learning difficulties including Down’s syndrome and autism, covered tracks such as the Jacksons’ Blame it on the Boogie, Shine by Take That, and Roar by Katy Perry.

Phil Janssen, creative head, said: “The main thing is the confidence building – to be able to stand up and sing in front of an audience is daunting for anybody. It’s also about communication skills and vocal range.”
