St Peters School staged a version of the popular Race for Life on Thursday (May 21) afternoon, in aid of Cancer Research. Everyone who took part was sponsored to complete the circuit, which went twice around the school field and a figure-of-eight of Spring Common about 3k in total. Youngsters from Years 7 to 13 were joined by teachers for the fundraiser, with those not running helping with marshalling duties. Director of Post 16 Learning, Linda Winwick, who organised the event with a group of sixth-formers, said the support from pupils had been amazing. It was a great success and parents came to watch. We even had a two-year-old do the course. She toddled most of the way round in pink fairy wings. The amount raised by the run, the first time the school had taken part in the Cancer Research fundraiser, was yet to be calculated before half-term.
