A group of art and design students have created this eye-catching window display at the Oxfam bookshop in Huntingdon using discarded items and waste material.

The students, who are studying for a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Huntingdonshire Regional College (HRC), used broken vinyl records, damaged books and sheet music and other waste items to create the display whose theme is 'souvenir of lost dreams'.

Bookshop manager Geoffrey Stalker said the display had created a lot of interest in the town.

"Lots of people are coming into the shop and asking questions and we have noticed that almost everyone stops to have a look and most people take photographs," he said.

"I supplied all the materials from the waste and discarded items that we can't sell in the shop and the students produced this absolutely gorgeous display for us."

Students from HRC have previously created a Christmas tree, made from old vinyl records, for the shop's window. Mr Stalker hopes the next window project will be on the theme of Alice in Wonderland as 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll's famous book.
