Little Paxton’s post office in a pub was officially opened by Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly on Friday.
The move to the Anchor Pub in the high street will see landlady Sue Merritt double up as the subpostmistress, offering an array of post office services – as well as continuing to serve up pints to her regulars.
Little Paxton’s post office had been operating from the village hall car park following the closure of its former home in December last year. Relocating to the Anchor will not only see services return to a permanent building but will also see opening hours extended.
Mr Djanogly said: “A post office is vital to the local community so well done to Sue Merritt for taking on Little Paxton post office at her pub and offering fabulous opening hours, which will be very convenient for villagers. This is a great improvement on the previous mobile post office. I am confident the improvements will be warmly welcomed.”
INFORMATION: The new opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am-11pm and Sunday noon–10.30pm.
