Barry Meenan, 20, of Cromwell Drive, was carrying a crowbar on February 11 of his year when a 17-year-old boy was attacked. The teenager has been walking with friends in Sapley Square when they were approached by four men, one of whom was carrying a crowbar. An altercation occurred, men followed the group to Spider Park where the victim was assaulted, suffering cuts and bruises. Meenan was arrested a few days later and identified as the man carrying the crowbar. He was sentenced on last Thursday (August 9) at Huntingdon Crown Court after pleading guilty to possessing an offensive weapon at a previous hearing. Detective Constable Liz Cooper said: The sentence given reflects how seriously this type of offence is taken and I hope it sends out a strong message to others.
