A Huntingdon man has admitted a knife attack which left his friend fighting for life at a block of flats in Eaton Socon last year.

Stephen Miller, 22, of Ambury Road, Huntingdon, pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court today (Monday) to grievous bodily harm with intent following the stabbing of a 26-year-old man at a block of flats in Dukes Road on October 6.

A Newton hearing – used where the defendant pleads guilty on a factual basis different to that which appears from the prosecution’s case – will be held on July 31, where Miller also will be sentenced.

The judge will resolve an issue surrounding whether the knife used in the attack was concealed within Miller’s jacket lining or had been on the arm of a sofa.

Judge Mark Lucraft QC said: “Clearly the sentence of the court will be a prison sentence and the issues that arise at the Newton hearing will determine the length of that sentence.”
