HUNTINGDON Library has been evacuated this morning (Friday, December 3) after a smell of gas.
Services manager Elaine Mountford said the library and archives centre, in Princes Street, was shut at around 9.30am this morning as a precaution so an engineer could be called out to investigate.
She hopes the library, which stores irreplaceable original documents in a purpose-built secure strongroom, can reopen as soon as possible but said it might be closed for longer if a problem is detected.
People can return books in the deposit point outside the library.
