The free after three scheme which is also running in St Ives and St Neots town centres in the run-up to Christmas originally included all of the Huntingdonshire District Council owned car parks in Huntingdon with the exception of Sainsburys.Sainsburys is now part of the scheme, and motorists will be able to park there free on weekdays after 3pm between December 3 and 24. The free parking is provided by HDC in a bid to drive more footfall into the town centres. Shoppers will not have to pay and display a ticket during the special offer period. Signs and stickers will be on display in car parks, and on the car parking machines explaining the times when the offer is valid. HDC leaders, Councillor Jason Ablewhite, said: We really want to encourage residents to do their Christmas shopping in their local town. We have agreed to provide this special offer as an incentive to support the shop local campaign, and are sure that this will provide a welcome boost to business for our local shops and services. Parking is free in Ramsey at all times.
