To celebrate the third centenary of the Fourth Earl of Sandwich, Huntingdon Town Council and Huntingdon First organised the food festival, which ran on Friday and Saturday and a sandwich competition.

Entrants for the sandwich competition included Huntingdon and Godmanchester’s Twinning Association, Stukeley Meadows Primary School and BID Huntingdon. The competition was judged by the mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Sarah Gifford, who judged the sandwiches on their name, presentation, filling combinations and home-made or home-grown ingredients.

“The creativity that went into the sandwiches was fantastic, with the Flaming Fleek by Stukeley Meadows Primary School winning the baguette category for their sassy name and the BID Bagel winning for their wacky presentation,” said deputy town clerk Natasha Pierson.

The overall winning sandwich award was presented to the twinning association for its Salon de Provence-themed sandwich named Le Liaisons Dangereuse.
