The carnival parade has a new route this year and will assemble in the market square at noon on the Saturday before making its way along Princes Street, St Mary’s Street and Hartford Road to the Riverside Park.

Live in the Park, sponsored by HCR104fm, at the same venue, also starts at noon and will feature an afternoon of live bands.

Carnival chairman Bill Hensley said: “Since I revived the carnival when I was mayor three years ago i have been overwhelmed by the response I have had from the public.

“This year we are expecting record numbers on both days.”

Mr Hensley said a flypast by a Spitfire was scheduled for both days.

The carnival day includes a range of stage and arena acts including Huntingdon Ukulele Band, Campol Boxing and Viking re-enactment, with the live event including around eight turns, headlined by Almost Abba.
