Hunters Down Rest Home, Huntingdon welcomed the former prime ministers wife to their new Queens Resident Unit. Activity coordinator Pearl Ewing said: All the residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Dame Norma, there has been a lot of talk about the day since. We chose a garden party theme because the residents grow a lot of flowers in the garden so we decided to bring them in to give the unit an outdoors feel. As a part of the special day residents were treated to makeovers from volunteer beauticians and hairdressers. Many of the ladies then decided to wear floral dresses to a long with the garden theme. The residents were also treated to cakes and sandwiches made for them by staff at the home. The visit formed part of the care homes NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) Competition entry in which they had to invite people from the local area to the home that had never visited before. The residents knew that Dame Norma lived only a couple of miles away so they decided to write to her and she accepted, said Ms Ewing.
