A local headteacher has received an OBE for her leadership in education. Dr Kim Taylor OBE, Head Teacher at Spring Common Academy recently had her OBE investiture at Buckingham Palace with HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge on 23rd March 2018. The school, which is situated in Huntingdon, specialises in helping children that suffer with learning difficulties. OBE is recognition of her regional leadership in education and special schools in the East of England. Dr Taylor, previously worked as a Cambridgeshire Local Authority General Inspection in inclusion before she joined Spring Common Academy in Huntingdon. She is also the Chair of special head teachers in Cambridgeshire and supports many networks to develop inclusive policies and practice for children with special educational needs. Dr Taylor said: I am both thrilled and honoured to accept this award for Services to Education. My OBE recognises the dedication and public service of all teams, including Spring Common Academy in supporting special needs children and young people. I accept this award on behalf of all my colleagues throughout my career and thank them for their help over the years. I am incredibly proud of our achievements.The headteacher attended a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace on March 23 and was awarded her medal by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
