The fourth annual Live in the Park, organised by Huntingdon Community Radio, included performances from the St Neots Big Band, Trevor Hensley, Blackjack and Soothsayer. More than 50 charities and organisations were also in attendance at Bloomfield Park. Charity stalls included Diabetes UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, MAGPAS, MS Therapy Centre and the Royal British Legion. Cllr Hensley also had a stall which raised money for his chosen charities and promoted future events. It was a great family day out and I believe it is the only free live music event in Huntingdon. There were four good bands and more than 50 stalls who were raising money for various charities. I would like to say a big thank you to the three ladies who manned our stall and also to the sponsors, Luminus and West Anglia Training Association. HCR also broadcast live from the event which attracted 2,500 people throughout the day. Cllr Hensley confirmed that next years Huntingdon Carnival would take place over the weekend of August 13-14 and would include a walking procession along the High Street. My vision is for a very colourful event, which will incorporate Live in the Park and we hope it will be Huntingdons version of the Notting Hill Carnival, he said.
