Taking place on Abbey Green, the show featured dozens of stalls, a fun dog show, al pacas, the aero club, the Cambridgeshire Caledonian Pipe Band, and Urban Dance Academy. The event took place last Saturday (June 4) and was officially opened by Lord De Ramsey, with stalls from MacMillan Cancer Support and the Rotary Club of Ramsey, as well as a tombola and book sale. MP for North West Cambridgeshire, Shailesh Vara, was also in attendance. Richard Hyde, a committee member, said: Hundreds of people turned out, the event took place in one of the finest settings in Cambridgeshire, and the sun came out in the afternoon. It was an excellent day. The two churches each received £900 from proceeds, with charities in attendance also taking home funds raised on the day. Richard Darmody, canon at St Thomas a Becket Church, said: The money goes into the general fund and a church like St Marys in Ramsey, which is part of our group, it really does help them to keep going. Ours is bigger and in a bigger place but helps us to keep running too. Sometimes people dont realise the cost of the building. It falls not to the community, but to the people who go to the church. We have to pay for the fabric, heating and lighting.
