A developer is seeking planning permission for more than 140 new homes on agricultural land in Ramsey.
Abbey Properties Cambridgeshire, which is based in Whittlesey, has applied to Huntingdonshire District Council for outline planning permission to build 141 homes on land to the north and south of Biggin Lane.
The 22-acre site is currently in use for agriculture and is split over two fields.
In documents provided to the district council, Abbey Properties noted: “Given the location and scale of the proposal it is not considered that the development of this site would harm the characteristics of the conservation area.
“The development of the site would create some further development to the edge of this part of Ramsey. This was envisaged by the local planning authority given that the site was part of a previous allocation for housing.
“In so doing it would provide an opportunity to provide a suitable screen - in the form of landscaping - to this part of the western boundary of the town.”
As part of the plans, the developer has also made provision for a roundabout in Biggin Lane, to help traffic as it enters and leaves the split site.
