Villagers dressed in clothes from the era and enjoyed a range of entertainment and activities as part of the commemorative event.Opera singer Karen England was invited to sing and there was a performance from the Houghton and Wyton Community Choir also. The event took place outside the Three Horseshoes Inn and on the village square. Kathy Harrow, one of the event organisers, said: The day was wonderful, absolutely brilliant. We formed a small committee in April to organise the event and we are very pleased with how it went. Some 200 people attended the event, included about 170 guests and 30 volunteers. Ms Harrow said a collection was held for the Royal British Legion on the day. Plans are already afoot for a tea dance in November to coincide with Armistice Day commemorations, at which funds raised will be added to those taken on Saturday.
