Power has now been restored to hundreds of homes in Ramsey after a car hit an electricity pylon earlier today (Wednesday).

Police were called to Wells Bridge, in Ramsey Mereside, at about 12.35pm, to reports that the car had collided with the pylon.

According to UK Power Networks, there were 365 homes and business that are without power in the area.

A post of the organisation’s website said: “We’re investigating a high voltage overhead electricity line fault which has caused a power cut in the local area.”

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene to help recover the vehicle.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said that no one was injured in the incident, and the stretch of road between Oilmills Road and Forty Foot Bridge has now reopened after work was carried out to clear the scene.
