The Octagon, near the bus station, once formed part of the towns cattle market and has since be used for storage by its owner, Huntingdonshire District Council. It is now the subject of a licensing application submitted by a group interested in using it as an upmarket eatery. HDCs executive leader Councillor Jason Ablewhite said the application would be before the licensing sub committee very soon. Potentially they want to do it up and put a high-class restaurant in there. At the moment, we are exploring that and they are testing the water with licensing to see if that would be an issue. Its going to come forward pretty quickly. I think they are very keen. Cllr Ablewhite said that the building had historic value which meant that HDC would insist on it being kept in its present form rather than being knocked down.
