A series of historic slides of life in St Ives 50 years ago will be reunited with the family.

Readers of The Hunts Post helped with information after seeing the slides in last week’s paper. They were scanned by amateur photographer Martin Snelling, of Hampshire, in his project View from this Side.

Mr Snelling wanted to reunite the slides with the owners and has now been in contact with the Bryant family, whose ancestors took the pictures.

This picture of the Sunday school of the Free Church of St Ives in May 1958 was taken in a garden to the rear of the church owned by Mr Wheeler.

It features Reverend John Ballard, in the centre, Cliff Downing on the left of the teachers row, as well as Molly Bryant, the wife of David who is believed to have taken the majority of the pictures. A picture of a wedding is also believed to have featured the marriage of Bryan Howe and Daphne Brown.
