The Rotary District Disability Games was held in Stamford on April 15 and featured more than 150 competitors from across the region, including competitors from Spalding, Northampton, Woodhall Spa, Lutterworth, Sleaford, and Lincoln.Among them was a team of 19 members of the Heron Club, aided by a team of staff and supporters. Club members took part in swimming, Boccia, curling, table tennis, darts, shooting, archery, and wheelchair athletics. A spokesman for the Rotary Club of St Ives said: Not only did everyone compete, we also had winners, and congratulations go to Vicky Garwood who won the senior female weightlifting, and to Andrew Chomyn who triumphed in the senior male darts. Heron Club leader Judy Bralee said: What a day. It was truly a fabulous event. I really wish to thank St Ives Rotary Club on behalf of all the Heron club members. Rotarian Sue Duma also extended her thanks to club members who helped on the day, and confirmed that this had been a superb day for Rotary and everyone who took part, from across the district. She added: We look forward to supporting this event again next year.
