The head teacher at Stukeley Meadows Primary School has praised a “whole team effort” after his school was rated ‘good’ by inspectors.

James Singleterry said he was “hugely proud” to have achieved the rating and said it was the result of years worth of hard work.

Ofsted inspectors said in their report: “Since the previous inspection, the head teacher’s knowledgeable leadership has led to significant improvement. His relentless drive to raise standards is shared and upheld by all staff.”

There was also praise for the behaviour and safety of pupils, the standard of teaching and the leadership team. The school’s early years provision was rated ‘outstanding’.

Mr Singleterry said the secret to the school’s success had been “the hard work of the leadership team and teachers” and he also praised “engagement with the community in the last two or three years”.

He added: “It has been a whole team effort, it has taken every one working together.”

In order to make the leap from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’, Ofsted said that the school should focus on raising achievement for disabled pupils, and making sure the most-able pupils are continually pushed.
