HDC staff highly praised in external review

EMPLOYEES at Huntingdonshire District Council have been highly praised for their positive and caring approach to working with communities across the district.

A two day external review recently took place, which covered different aspects of council work, including the levels of satisfaction with council services, whether council services are responsive and how good its customer care is.

The review was carried out by a team of officers and a councillor from other councils and resulted in the council being awarded ‘achieving’ status against the Equality Framework for Local Government by the Local Government Association.

Feedback included high public satisfaction; good examples of how the council is working with young people to prevent homophobic bullying in schools; fantastic volunteering opportunities for disabled people at Hinchingbrooke Country Park; and the council has “excellent” and “enthusiastic” staff who are committed to providing brilliant services.

Tom Sanderson, portfolio holder for healthy and active communities, said: “It is great that our the staff have been recognised for being excellent, enthusiastic and committed to providing brilliant services for residents. This is also an opportunity for the council to formally celebrate and share our work in this area which recognises our commitment to equal opportunities in employing staff, how services are delivered and for being a community leader.”
