The former tax office at Chequers Court has been demolished to make way for a new retail development. Important work to move utilities such as electricity and gas supplies is underway. A spokesman for Huntingdonshire District Council said: Work is being undertaken at Trinity Place car park to relocate an electricity sub-staion as part of the redevelopment of Chequers Court. There are three phases of this project, which will involve the temporary closure of some spaces during April and May. New hoarding went up earlier this year carrying artists impressions of what the new shopping area could look like. The multi-million pound project, designed to attract new high-quality retailers to the town is being overseen by Churchmanor Estates. It had planning permission for a new supermarket and retail units but has since revised its plans, with a supermarket no longer included.
