A ground-breaking ceremony took place on land adjacent to Eaton Socon Pre-School on Wednesday to mark the site of a new building.

The £1 million-pound project will allow the pre-school to offer an additional 50 child places each year and should be open next April.

St Neots mayor, Councillor Derek Giles, and the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Richard Pemberton, and members of Devlin Architects, the design team, and builders Mixbrow Construction Ltd, attending the event along with pre-school pupils and staff.

Nick Walker, chairman of the Eaton Socon Pre-School Committee, said: “It is truly fantastic to finally see the efforts of staff and our voluntary committee over the last four years result in the construction of our new building which will ultimately benefit children in Eaton Socon and the wider St Neots area.”

The project is being jointly funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency, Cambridgeshire County Council and Eaton Socon Pre-School.
