A St Bernard puppy who lives with his owner in Sawtry will join the thousands of canines hoping to catch the eye of the judges at the world-famous Crufts dog show this week.

The show, at the NEC in Birmingham, has attracted more than 22,000 entries this year and Ruth Gibson, from Sawtry, is hoping her dog, The Great Gatsby, who is 15 months old, will do well.

Ruth said: “It is very exciting to be taking part. He is a very loving dog and like most dogs, he wants to please. He is easy going and enjoys his training.”

The Great Gatsby won a rosette in an obedience class at a show in Newark last weekend and is a fully trained Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog. He has also been selected for some television work.
