A Great Gransden schoolgirl has organised a charity cycle ride to raise money for the Macmillan Woodlands Centre Appeal at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Esme Johnson, aged nine, will cycle from her home to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, a journey of 13 miles, on February 17 in support of the appeal to build a new cancer unit at the hospital. Esme, whose father Nik is a paediatrician at Hinchingbrooke, came up with the idea of fund-raising after her granny was diagnosed with lung cancer just before Christmas.
Esme said on her Just Giving page: “I want to help my granny and other people who are fighting cancer. I am nine years old and am going to raise money by doing a sponsored bike ride between my home and the hospital treating my granny.”
