ARSONISTS have been condemned for setting a grass verge alight on the A1 last night.
Firefighters from St Neots were called to the scene on the A1 northbound carriageway near Wyboston at 9.10pm. They had to use two hose-reel jets to put out three separate blazes, which are all believed to have been started deliberately.
A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Starting a fire can put lives at risk wherever it is done. A fire on a grass verge can cause smoke to drift across the road putting drivers at risk.”
Anyone who saw the incident should call Cambridgeshire Police on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
